It’s hard to see our heros falling, but sometimes we need to realize that they are human also! Recently two big names in the Catholic Church Fr. Euteneuer and Fr. Corapi have been under the spotlight. Fr. Corapi maintenance his innocent on some of the current issues that I am pretty sure if you are reading this blog you are probably aware of. I am not sure of the guilt or innocence of Fr. Corapi. However, I am sure of one thing and that is that Fr. Corapi like all of us sins! I am not saying that he has committed any of the things alleged, but I am saying like the rest of us he can sin.
I feel like some of us are less forgiving on our heros than other sinners. We have to welcome every sinner with open arms. We sometimes forget that the devil is probably trying really hard to hurt men who have done great good in the Church. Men like Fr. Corapi and Fr.Euteneuer, who have been great priests for many years and have helped people strengthen their relationship with God, are probably getting attacked by the devil right and left. Instead of looking down on the people who many considered to be former heros, by the Grace of the Holy Spirit let us pray for them and be their heros (but let us remember God is the real hero we are just the once shouting for God’s to save them). A good priest once said something along the lines of this: what separates a sinner from a saint is one confession!
