Just imagine someone coming to you and saying come follow me. Would you just put down whatever you were doing and follow him? The answer is most likely no. A priest during his homily one time explained that Simon and Andrew noticed that Jesus spoke with authority. Jesus calls us to “Leave the nets of sin and cast the nets of faith (One Bread, One Body).”
