I love the way You Love

July 31, 2011

I love the way God Loves. God Loves us unconditionally, he loves us knowing all of our faults, our sins, and our rebellions. Knowing all our faults God died for us. I find this amazing because it’s so hard to love someone who is nice to us, therefore loving someone so sinful towards us takes love to a new level. It’s nice to know that He is always loving me.

Jews

July 29, 2011

I was talking to a scholar today and he brought up a interesting point regarding the Jews. He was saying that so much of the problems in our society can be blamed on the Jews. How so you ask? He credits the Jews for turning people against each other and ultimately against the Church. I am interested in what people have to say about this comment. I guess my question is: Why do you think America has this love affair with Israel and the Jews? I am having a hard time understanding this; therefore, reasonable comments are welcomed.

Spiritual Warfare

July 24, 2011

It’s hard to see our heros falling, but sometimes we need to realize that they are human also! Recently two big names in the Catholic Church Fr. Euteneuer and Fr. Corapi have been under the spotlight. Fr. Corapi maintenance his innocent on some of the current issues that I am pretty sure if you are reading this blog you are probably aware of. I am not sure of the guilt or innocence of Fr. Corapi. However, I am sure of one thing and that is that Fr. Corapi like all of us sins! I am not saying that he has committed any of the things alleged, but I am saying like the rest of us he can sin.

I feel like some of us are less forgiving on our heros than other sinners. We have to welcome every sinner with open arms. We sometimes forget that the devil is probably trying really hard to hurt men who have done great good in the Church. Men like Fr. Corapi and Fr.Euteneuer, who have been great priests for many years and have helped people strengthen their relationship with God, are probably getting attacked by the devil right and left. Instead of looking down on the people who many considered to be former heros, by the Grace of the Holy Spirit let us pray for them and be their heros (but let us remember God is the real hero we are just the once shouting for God’s to save them). A good priest once said something along the lines of this: what separates a sinner from a saint is one confession!

The Media’s “Tone” Regarding Fr. Corapi!

June 23, 2011

The Catholic’s media’s tone regarding Fr. Corapi’s recent decision has been I believe unCatholic in some respects. Michael Voris from RealCatholicTV.com has shed some very insightful light on the situation. Take a look:

“John Corapi (once called ‘father,’ now ‘The Black Sheep Dog’) “

June 19, 2011

Fr. Corapi has decided to leave public ministry as a priest. Here is a link to the video message and here is the link to the statement published.

We should continue to pray for him and ask God to do God’s Will for him, regardless of what Fr. Corapi, any Bishop, theologian or author thinks is the best. We need to TRUST IN GOD and submit to the Church.

Dr. Kevorkian

June 5, 2011

What can I say about Dr. Kevorkian death. I read an interesting article in Salon.com called the The poignant irony of Dr. Kevorkian’s death it was about why it’s a bit ironic that Dr. Kevorkian did not choose assistant suicided to end his life here on earth. Did Dr. Kevorkian at his last dying hour think maybe life should be cherished, even if it’s accompanied by suffering? I guess we don’t know why Dr. Kevorkian choose not to take his life, but we pray that God has mercy on his soul. We also hope Dr. Kevorkian did finally amend his thoughts on life. We need to remember that he could of asked God for mercy at anytime prior to his death, even if it was his last moment. God’s mercy is truly great. God truly forgives us as soon as we turn to Him with a contrite heart vowing that we would never sin again. I hope that Dr. Kevorkian’s was converted to the true faith and that his nickname “Dr. Death” seized, and at his last hour I hope he took on a new nickname “Dr. life”. Let us pray that God has mercy on Dr. Kevorkian’s soul.

Best Iphone/Ipod Touch/Ipad Catholic App: iPieta

May 30, 2011

I have multiple Catholic Apps on my Ipod Touch. I have the Rosary, Evangelizo, Compline, CatholicTV, Mass Times, and iPieta. From all of them IPieta is by far my favorit. It’s has a Catholic Bible, many Catholic prayers, the Catechisms and so many Catholic sources! On top of it all it’s very organized and it only costs $3. One of the best $3 I have ever spent.

If your too cheap or can’t afford it (although if you can’t afford it, how do you have an ipod touch or iphone anyways) then there are a few good free apps that I recommend.

Mass Times : This app automatically finds your location and tells
you where the nearby churches are and it’s Mass times. This app is
free!

Evangelizo: Great Catholic app for free. It has prayers and reflections and
Bible verses.

CatholicTV: Catholic news and television programs.

Rosary: Free Rosary app.

Compline: Free night prayers app.

Blood Bloods Episode Parallels Fr. Corapi and the Church’s Current Issues

April 12, 2011

The 4/8/11 episode of Blue Bloods is very similar to the ongoing situation with Fr. Corapi. In the CBS TV drama Blue Bloods a good priest is being falsely accused of inappropriate sexual behavior with an adult, which is similar to what Fr. Corapi is being accused of. In the TV Drama the Bishop of the dioceses has to make a decision of either shipping the priest off to a another dioceses or standing and fighting for him, knowing that if he stands and fights for the priest the media will have a field day and attempt to mock the Church. In the CBS drama the Bishop makes the right choice and sticks by his priest and ultimately the Church! This episode teaches us a good lesson that we have to seek the truth without fear of what might happen. We need to do the right thing and let the chips fall as they may!

TV Drama Called Blue Bloods has a Positive Catholic Message

April 3, 2011

CBS TV drama Blue Bloods stars Tom Selleck, Donnie Wahlberg, Bridget Moynahan, Will Estes, and Len Cariou. Blue Bloods is a law enforcement criminal investigation drama series. But what separates this show from many of the other criminal investigation television dramas is that Blue Bloods promotes the family! This television drama is about a family of NY cops who work together to solve many criminal investigation and real life family trouble. The show promotes many family values such as being faithful to one’s spouse, Catholic prayer before meals, humility, and love. It’s no wonder that the show won the 2010 Catholics In Media Associates (CIMA) Television Award.

Further, I come from a film background and I found this show to be an excellent production with a great cast and wonderful direction. You can view the episodes on CBS, online, or on demand (also I bet you can find episodes on the itunes store). Here is a link to find out about episode times and links for the online episodes.

Pride

April 3, 2011

According to the Catholic Encyclopedia “Pride is the excessive love of one’s own excellence.” This is one sin that I struggle with alot. I often find myself Googling my name and seeing how high I am in the Google rankings as if this meant anything. I often like people seeing me as this untouchable and slick person. I often have an opinion about everything. I day dream of days of becoming the super hero that everyone loves. I am often hurt deeply when someone tarnishes my image in the least bit.

Today, I realized something. When I die will it matter what person A or person B thinks about me? Not really. What will matter is how God will judge me. I do not need any earthly praise, but I do need the Almighty God to say “Come, ye blessed of my Father, possess you the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world.” Matthew 25:34.

Note: I am not a theologian. Further, I do make mistakes.
